At New Adventure Safaris (T) it is our pleasure to introduce you to South Africa, also known as “a world in one country” because of its incredible diversity. Located at the southernmost tip of Africa, South Africa is ranked as one of the top vacation destinations in the world. From 2005 to 2007 National Geographic Adventure rated it as one of the top ten must-see destinations. At the 2006 World Travel Awards, South Africa won best vacation destination in Africa by winning 12 of the 18 African awards. In short, everybody agrees that South Africa is a country of great diversity and beauty abounding with opportunities to participate in authentic African experiences.
There are many reasons why South Africa is considered to be such a magnificent place. With less than 1% of the earth’s landmass, South Africa has one of the greatest varieties of mammal, reptile and bird species. Some of Africa’s most ferocious animals roam the grasslands of South Africa. Here we find what is known as the “Big Five” – the lion, the elephant, the Black Rhinoceros, the Cape Buffalo and the leopard. Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s largest parks located in northeast South Africa, has some of the best opportunities for safaris in all of Africa.
For nature lovers South Africa is a veritable paradise ranging from lush forests on the east coast to the arid Kalahari and Great Karoo deserts in the interior to the sub-tropics in the northeast. Furthermore, the Cape Peninsula is the home to one of the world’s six floral kingdom. While most of the floral kingdoms encompass several countries and sometimes continents, the Cape Floral Kingdom is a kingdom of its own boasting over 9600 plant species.
The people of South Africa are another aspect of what makes this such a great country to visit. With a little over 42 million people South Africa is a melting pot of different groups, cultures, and tribes. They all add to the makeup of South Africa creating a culture that is unique to the world. Archbishop Desmond Tutu rightly stated that South Africa is “the Rainbow Nation.”
Of course another one of the highlights of visiting South Africa is to spend some time in Cape Town. Surrounded by mountains, white sand beaches, winelands, and a blend of cultures and cuisines, Cape Town is a cosmopolitan delight that has something to offer everyone. In 2006 and 2007 Travel & Leisure ranked Cape Town as one of the top ten cities in the world to visit.
For all these reasons and more we at New Adventure Safaris would like to invite you to accompany us on your very own African adventure. We have four different trips that depart regularly throughout the year. If these trips do not suit your preferences we also are able to customize your dream vacation. Our four trips are:
