If you are on a guided African safari with us, your chances of encountering problems are minimal. New Adventure Safaris makes it our business to know the areas in which we travel, thus reducing the risk to travelers. Safaris are exceptionally safe overall. As long as you abide by some simple and common sense rules, you should be able to relax and thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Travel Documents and Money
When traveling on an African safari, always have a photocopy of your passport, visa, and list of traveler’s check numbers. These copies should be packed separately from the originals. In addition, it is never a good idea to carry large sums of cash. Most large accommodations accept credit cards, although you may need cash for purchases at local markets and for gratuities for the guide.

Personal Safety
When traveling on safari, make sure to abide by all local laws and keep up-to-date on local news. Do not openly carry valuables; if you need to carry your passport, traveler’s checks, or cash, keep them in a button-down pocket or money pouch.

The Animals are Used to the Vehicles
When you are with a trained driver and guide, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Your guide is trained to understand the animals’ behavior and will not put his guests in any threatening situation. The animals are also fully accustomed to the sight and sound of safari vehicles.
Many of the animals you will view in the National Parks were born in the National Park system and are quite used to the sights and sounds of people talking quietly and the guide giving viewing tips.

Game Viewing
Your guide will always do a safety talk with you, whether you are completing a spectacular game drive or a walking safari. Wildlife can be potentially dangerous, but as long as you adhere to what the guide tells you there is very little to worry about. It is important to be quiet when viewing wildlife and to not make any sudden moves. Stay in the vehicle.

Bugs, Spiders, Snakes and more!
Although Africa is known to be home to a number of potentially dangerous species, very few visitors are negatively affected. Snakes, scorpions, spiders and insects can be found, but most are shy and tend to stay away from areas of major activity. As a precaution, it is a good idea to wear close-toed walking shoes, socks, and long pants.
